Hi Kayte, my daughter was diagnosed in July 2007 and was already stage IV with FHC. Two different doctors had been treating her for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She had been using Nuva Ring which I later found out by reading the small print in the package insert that it "can cause liver tumors". Our daughter's doctors had never seen this kind of cancer. We did go to Mayo Clinic, but they did not know how to treat it. I am in total disbelief that this cancer is so rare. There are kids being diagnosed with this more and more often. There has to be some kind of link why this is affecting young kids. My daughter had tried Nexavar, but we only found the cancer had increased significantly. She then tried a combination of 3 different chemo drugs that did keep it at bay for several months. I believe her advanced cancer when diagnosed left us few options. She had liver resection but it had already spread to several organs by that time. She passed away at age 20 a year ago. I wish I could help in any way. I wish you only the best with your treatment. I will be checking in to see how you're doing.
